Shoot In China is a Shanghai video production house built around collaboration between international filmmakers and local production professionals. Since 2012, we have helped overseas brands, agencies and production teams make commercials, corporate films, interviews and documentary content in China.
Our team brings together producers, directors, camera crew and post-production talent. We understand the creative conversations that happen before a shoot, and the local work needed to turn them into a film.

An international director may have a clear picture of the film but need a team who can find the locations, talk to local suppliers and organise the crew. A corporate client may have a story to tell but no production department of their own. We work with both.
Our bilingual producers connect the client’s ideas with the people making them happen. That means explaining the visual approach to a local department, discussing a workable alternative when a location changes, and keeping the creative intent in view as the details develop.
A Production House That Fits Around Your Team
We can work alongside a visiting director and agency, provide the local unit for an overseas production company, or take a project from creative development through delivery. The arrangement grows out of what the client needs and the people already involved.
For a commercial, that may mean cinematography, lighting, casting and art support. For an interview or documentary, it may be a smaller team with a producer, camera and sound. Our experience across these formats helps us put together a crew that suits the work without making a straightforward shoot unnecessarily complicated.
The Local Detail Behind the Images
A good location also has to work as a filming location. Our producers look after the conversations about access, working hours, sound and equipment movement while the creative team develops the shots. We coordinate rental equipment, transport and the day’s arrangements around the production.
Shanghai is our base, and our work also takes us to other cities across China. For projects with several locations, we bring those local arrangements together so the client has a connected production rather than a collection of separate bookings.
Continuity into Post-Production
Our work can continue through editing, colour, sound, graphics and subtitles, or finish with a footage handoff to the client’s editor. In either case, the filming and post-production teams work towards the same result.
