China Gaffer for Hire | Bilingual Lighting Crew Support
Shoot In China provides China gaffer hire and lighting crew support for commercials, documentaries, corporate videos and interviews. We coordinate the crew and lighting package around the DOP’s references, the location and the filming schedule.

Work with Experienced Cinematographers
Our lighting crew regularly collaborates with our in-house and partner cinematographers. If you’re looking for a complete camera department, check out our Shanghai cinematographer services for an all-in-one solution.
Gaffer, Lighting Crew and Grip Roles
The gaffer works with the DOP on the lighting approach and coordinates the lighting crew. Grip crew handle agreed support, flags, diffusion and rigging tasks. Confirm who covers electrical distribution and any specialist installation before the shoot.
Send lighting references, location photographs, room dimensions, power details, camera positions and access hours. Allow time for loading, setup, tests, rehearsal and strike. Crew size and equipment are confirmed against the production requirements.
Lighting Crew Across China
For city-specific arrangements, see Beijing grip and gaffers, Guangzhou grip and gaffers and Shenzhen lighting crew. Confirm which roles need English-Chinese communication rather than assuming every technician provides interpretation.
Planning Your Shoot
Send the filming dates, city, brief, equipment or crew requirements and delivery schedule to [email protected]. We can then confirm the scope, availability and quote.
Lighting Preparation and Location Requirements
A lighting brief should include the DOP’s visual references, the camera positions, intended movement and shooting order. Location photographs, floor plans, window directions and available setup time help the gaffer discuss fixtures, control equipment and crew requirements. An interview room and a large commercial set need different preparation.
Confirm equipment access, unloading, working height and any restrictions imposed by the venue. Electrical distribution and specialist rigging must be assigned to appropriate qualified personnel and planned for the location; do not assume that a general equipment list establishes that a setup is suitable.
Agree preparation, tests, filming hours and strike time in the booking. Identify who approves changes to the lighting package and who coordinates with camera, grip and production. For several locations, allow for packing, transport and rebuilding the setup. English-Chinese coordination is arranged for the required roles, and fixture quantities are confirmed for the dates.
