Planning a shoot in China takes more than booking a crew and camera package. International producers often need local permits, bilingual communication, equipment rental, scheduling and on-the-ground coordination. Shoot In China provides China filming support for commercials, corporate videos, documentaries, interviews, factory films, events and b-roll shoots.

Based in Shanghai and working nationwide, we help overseas teams navigate local production conditions efficiently, reduce communication barriers, and keep filming on schedule.

Pre-Production Planning and Coordination

Our filming support can include budget development, production schedules, call sheets, location feasibility reviews, crew recommendations, casting, vendor sourcing and travel arrangements. We help build a shooting plan around the brief, locations, timeline and deliverables.

Agree the responsibilities of the overseas team and local production team before booking. This includes who approves costs, confirms contributors, manages locations and signs off changes during the shoot.

Location Scouting and Filming Permits

Location research and scouting consider the visual brief alongside access, transport, power, available facilities and filming hours. A space that looks right on camera still needs to work for the crew and equipment.

When permits or formal approvals are needed, we assist with local coordination and communication. Requirements are assessed for the city, location and type of production. Share the proposed setup early; do not assume that access to a venue also covers every planned filming activity.

Local Crew, Fixers and Equipment

Depending on the shoot, we can help arrange producers, line producers, fixers, production coordinators, location managers, DOPs, camera operators, sound recordists, gaffers, grips and production assistants. Documentary and factual projects may also need field producers, translators, interview support and contributor coordination.

Camera, lighting, grip, sound, monitors, teleprompters and wireless equipment can be coordinated through supplier networks. Packages may include ARRI, Sony, RED, Canon or Blackmagic cameras, with the exact models, accessories and availability confirmed for the dates.

Equipment preparation, test time, delivery, power and technical support belong in the plan. Compare local rental with moving equipment between cities; overseas equipment movement requires separate planning before travel.

Transport, Multi-City Shoots and On-Set Support

Transport, accommodation, intercity travel, local vehicles and equipment movements need to fit the call sheet. For multi-city filming, agree the route, local sourcing, preparation days and travel time before committing to the schedule.

During filming, our bilingual production team coordinates client, director, agency, crew, contributors and location contacts. This can include call times, executive schedules, vendor follow-up and changes to the shooting order. Casting, release forms, fittings and makeup are included where agreed in the scope.

Aerial Work, Documentation and Delivery

If aerial filming is part of the brief, discuss feasibility, pilot requirements and relevant permissions before booking it. Production paperwork, location agreements, insurance requirements and invoicing should also be identified early, with responsibility assigned to the appropriate parties.
