China Film Production Support
Shoot In China was founded in 2012 by Clark Wang and Matt Clarke, bringing together their production experience in a Shanghai-based company. We provide China film production support for international production houses, agencies and brands, working alongside visiting filmmakers as well as clients directing from abroad.
Our work sits between a creative idea and the local production needed to film it. That can mean putting together a crew, finding a workable location, coordinating a company visit or keeping several filming days connected across different cities. The overseas team has local producers who understand the film and can take responsibility for the arrangements here.

Preparing the Local Production
We work through the treatment and schedule with the creative team, then coordinate scouting, crew, equipment, casting and local transport. For a studio production, support may extend to art department, props, wardrobe and set construction through local collaborators.
Location work often involves conversations with owners, building managers or site staff. Our team makes the enquiries, explains the planned filming and coordinates access and any permissions required for the particular activity. We discuss alternatives when a proposed location or setup cannot be confirmed.

Bilingual Producers on the Ground
A visiting director may be working with Chinese-speaking contributors, venue staff and suppliers for the first time. Our English-Chinese producers keep those conversations connected, translating creative intentions as well as practical requests.
During the shoot, we coordinate local departments and changes to the working day. A factory may have a limited access window, an interview may move between meetings, or an outdoor scene may need another location. Our producers deal with the people involved so the director and camera team can keep working on the film.

Crew and Technical Support
We arrange cinematographers, camera assistants, lighting, grip and sound, with specialist crew brought in for the production where needed. Equipment is coordinated with the departments using it and confirmed against the shoot dates and locations.
Our support can cover a compact documentary unit or a larger commercial production. Remote viewing and local production coordination can also help an overseas client follow a shoot without travelling, while retaining a direct conversation with the team on set.
One Production Across Several Cities
Shanghai is our base, with a production network in Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing and other cities. We coordinate local units, travel and location arrangements as part of the same project.
That continuity also matters after filming. We can organise production notes, media handoff and translation for an overseas editor, or continue with editing, colour grading, graphics, voiceover and sound. The footage and the story stay connected as the work moves between teams.
A Production Partner in China
Our photographs here show the crew and location work behind the finished productions. We are also members of the International Quorum of Motion Picture Producers, connecting our Shanghai team with a wider community of independent production companies.
Some clients need local support for a fully planned shoot; others involve us while the production is still taking shape. In both cases, we offer the same combination of filmmaking experience, bilingual communication and hands-on coordination in China. Email: [email protected].
