China Fixer Services
Shoot In China provides fixer services for international teams filming in China. Founded in 2012 and based in Shanghai, we work with producers, directors and agencies on the local research, contacts and arrangements behind commercials, documentaries, corporate films and branded content.
A fixer’s involvement often begins before a crew arrives. We speak with people on the ground, check how proposed scenes could work and bring that information back to the production, so the plan develops with local conditions in mind.
Research and Local Conversations
We help research locations, contributors and the practical details around a story. Early enquiries can establish who manages a venue, when a person is available and what filming may involve for those taking part.
Scouting gives the director and producer material to assess, including location images and relevant access information. Where permission or other checks are needed, we coordinate enquiries with the relevant contacts and explain the position to the client. The outcome depends on the particular place and activity.
Turning the Research into Filming Days
Our producers coordinate schedules, local transport, accommodation, crew and equipment around the agreed scenes. Casting or contributor arrangements can sit within that work, alongside any team already brought by the client.
The local details are connected: a contributor’s time affects the interview schedule, and a location’s access hours affect crew calls and equipment delivery. We follow those conversations through preparation and keep the production informed when something changes.
Bilingual Support During the Shoot
A bilingual producer helps the visiting team work with Chinese-speaking contributors, crew and location staff. We carry the meaning of questions and creative requests, and discuss practical changes with the people responsible.
On set, the fixer stays involved in local coordination while the director and camera team work on the film. The client has a contact who understands the story and the arrangements behind the day, rather than having to reopen every conversation with a different supplier.
Support Across Locations and into Post
For a production travelling between cities, we coordinate local contacts around the common filming plan. Shanghai connects with our network elsewhere in China, with crew and access arrangements considered for each location.
Our involvement can continue with footage handoff, interview notes, subtitles or post-production coordination where included in the project.
